Are there any age limits or restrictions under the Confidas Pet policy
We can insure your client’s pet as long as the pet is over 8 weeks of age and under 11 years (6 years for some breeds of dog) from inception of the policy. If cover is started between these ages, we will not stop cover purely because the pet has reached a certain age.

What pets are covered under the Confidas Pet policy
Our pet insurance covers dogs and cats only
Do you change the excess on this policy as the pet gets older
Once your client’s pet is aged 7 years and older there is a mandatory coinsurance of 20%. Coinsurance is the amount they will need to pay towards any claim. This is in addition to the existing excess as detailed on their policy schedule.
Can cover still be arranged if a pet has not been vaccinated
Yes, although unvaccinated dogs are not covered for:
- Distemper
- Hepatitis
- Leptospirosis
- Parvovirus
- Kennel cough
Unvaccinated cats are not covered for:
- Feline Infectious Enteritis
- Cat flu
- Leukaemia
In addition, any treatment required for an illness that may have been prevented with a routine vaccination will be excluded (unless the vaccine failed).
How many pets can be covered on one policy
We are able to insure any combination of domestic cats and dogs on one policy up to a maximum of 10 pets. However, our website will restrict the number allowed online to four. This is because there are a number of additional questions that we need to ask to ensure the policy meets your client’s requirements and to establish whether there is any additional risk which would not be covered under the policy, such as commercial gain or using a pet for breeding purposes.
Can a pet be insured if it suffers from a pre-existing condition
As with most pet insurance policies, the policy does not cover any pre-existing conditions or any claims for any conditions, symptoms or events that happen prior to the start date of the policy or the addition of a pet to the policy. Neither does it cover any claims as a result of illness within the first 14 days of the start of the policy or the addition of a pet to a policy.
What is not covered under the Confidas Pet policy
Certain things are not covered by your client’s pet insurance policy. These include any claims for any illness or disease during the first 14 days of the policy or the pet being added to the policy or any condition that is present before. The policy does not cover any preventative, non-essential or routine treatment or tests such as flea treatment, neutering, vaccination and pregnancy.
